city in western Cameroon (West Cameroon), on the Bamenda plateau. Administrative center of the Northwestern Province. Population, about 40,000. Trade center of the agricultural region (livestock-raising; millet, tea, and other crops). Tea factory, processing of hides (zebu and others).
