Brunhes Jean

Born Oct. 25, 1869, in Toulouse; died Aug. 25, 1930, in Boulogne-sur-Seine. French geographer.

Brunhes graduated from the University of Paris (1892). He taught in the universities of Fribourg and Lausanne (Switzerland), and he was a professor at the Collège de France after 1912. He was one of the first theoreticians of the French school of “human geography.” He was the creator of a series of geographical textbooks (Collection de J. Brunhes) and monographs about France.
