Coniferin
Coniferin C16H22O8·2H2O, a phenol glycoside. Coniferin was first extracted from the sap of coniferous plants (Coniferales). It is found in the tissues of many plant species. During fermentative hydrolysis coniferin decomposes into glucose and coniferyl alcohol, one of the starting products in the biosynthesis of lignin. |
