enteroclysis study
enteroclysis study
Mainstream medicineA double-contrast radiologic examination of the small intestine in which the bowel loops are distended in succession to detect tumours, wall thickening, mucosal abnormalities, fistulas and bleeding sites. Enteroclysis is more accurate and specific than the first-line screening procedure, the small bowel series, at a cost of slightly increased radiation exposure and procedure time; in contrast to the small bowel series, enteroclysis is more sensitive in detecting bowel loop thickening (95% vs 61%) and tumours (90% vs 33%).
