Brygos
Brygos
A potter of ancient Greece who lived in Attica in the first third of the fifth century B.C.
Most of the vases which bear Brygos’ mark were decorated by an artist called the “Brygos painter.” His mythological and genre designs, which are distinguished by their fidelity to life, signify the transition from the archaic style to the classical. Among the vases which he decorated are the kylikes The Drinking Party and Its Aftermath (Martin Wagner Museum, Würzburg) and Hera and Iris Pursued by the Followers of Dionysus (British Museum, London).
