Bryobia Redikorzevi

an arthropod of the family Bryobiidae. Its body length is 0.58-0.62 mm, and it is reddish-brown or greenish-brown. It is found in Western Europe, Egypt, Morocco, Turkey, Japan, New Zealand, the USA, and Canada; in the USSR it is found mainly in the European part. There are up to six generations per year. Eggs winter on the bark of branches and trunks. Larvae appear when buds of the apple tree turn pink; adult mites, at the end of the apple tree’s blossoming. Females lay from 25 to 45 eggs on leaves. Larvae and adult mites feed on the juice of the leaves, which become brown and stop growing. Control measures include trimming and burning dead bark and spraying plants with acaricides.
