Web: www.ctrivertravel.net Description:Running along both sides of the Upper Connecticut River, byway includesnumerous traditional New England historic and cultural sites in ruralfarming villages and urban centers, set in a landscape of shelteredvalleys and mountains. Pointsof interest along the Vermont section of the byway include: theRockingham Meeting House, the earliest public building in Vermont, built in1787; the American Precision Museum, housing the largest collection of historically significantmachine tools in the country; the Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park and the Billings Farm & Museum; the QuecheeGorge, one of Vermont's most spectacular natural wonders; White River Junction,home to a historic railroad station and Old 494, a restored train engine; and theNew England Transportation Museum, which details the region's railroadinghistory.
Legth: 233 miles (Vermont section); 499 (entire byway). Start/Endpoint: Byway includes sections in New Hampshire and Vermont. From the New Hampshire-Massachusetts border, byway runs north along NH63, NH 12, NH 12A, NH 10, NH 135, US 3, and NH 145 to the Canadianborder. The New Hampshire section of the byway runs parallel on the east sideof the Connecticut River. Time to Allow: 7 hours (Vermont section); 14 hours (entire byway).
