Dechko Uzunov
Uzunov, Dechko
Born Feb. 22, 1899, in Kazanlik. Bulgarian painter.
Uzunov studied at the academies of arts in Sofia (1919–22) and Munich (1922–24). In 1938 he became a professor at the Sofia Academy of Arts. In 1965 he was elected chairman of the Union of Bulgarian Artists. Uzunov lives and works in Sofia. His paintings, most of which are portraits and landscapes, are distinguished by a free brushwork and rich colors. Uzunov received the Dmitrov Prize in 1962.
