Fleischer, Leon

(1928– ) pianist, conductor, teacher; born in San Francisco. After studies in the U.S.A. and with Schnabel in Europe, Fleischer appeared with the New York Philharmonic at age 16 and began a brilliant solo career. Falling victim to a right-hand ailment in 1964, he thereafter played left-hand piano literature while conducting and teaching at Peabody and the Berkshire Music Center.
