Question
Country: CanadaState: Ontariook a friend came over to my house the dog run out as he opened the door, and collided with a speeding truck. The truck was going so fast that the dog ended up hitting the side door of the truck instead of the head light or getting run over. The impact caused a dent in the truck. Because the impact was so brief my dog for some reason got away luckily with only a dislocated hip which I paid 360 dollars for at the vet.( if you'd seen it, you'd be sure the dog wouldn't have made it) now 3 weeks later the truck driver came over demanding the total damage to the truck caused by my dog. What's your opinion?? thanks I know it's a difficult one. (it's on a local street with the speed limit of 30, and I have witnesses to show that he was driving carelessly he never noticed the dog coming)
Answer
Technically you are liable if the dog was running out on the street--but you could refuse and see if he goes to small claims...you could argue he was speeding etc...Question
