enterprise culture

a set of values, symbols and practices which include a commitment to profitmaking, enterprise, innovation, initiative, self-reliance, creativity and competition. In the 1980s, the UK Government established an ‘enterprise initiative’ scheme which aims to develop graduates with skills and experience relevant to industry by funding initiatives in higher education which promote the skills and values associated with enterprise. Popular criticism of sociology often refers to its critical stance towards enterprise, profit and individualism.
