Four-H club Related to Four-H club: 4H Club4-H Club or Four-H Club F0281900 (fôr′āch′)n. A youth organization sponsored by the Department of Agriculture and offering instruction in agriculture, home economics, and other fields. [From its four goals: to improve head, heart, hands, and health.]Four-H clubClub work was “intended to help farm boys and girls become efficient farmers and homemakers as well as useful citizens and leaders.” It was an activity that provided farm teenagers a certain amount of entertainment and socializing, as well as training for the life ahead. The four Hs stood for Head and clearer thinking, Heart and greater loyalty, Hands, and Health. Membership was for ages ten to twenty, and administration of the program was/is through county agents. |
