Alleged unearthed ‘memories’ of childhood sexual abuse induced by psychoanalysts and other psychotherapists with more enthusiasm for Freudian theories than insight into the nature of their own activities. Cases of flagrant invitations or suggestions by therapists to their patients to ‘remember’ such incidents have been reported, and some of these have led to unfounded accusations and family alienation.
