Auslaut

the ultima, position of a sound or cluster of sounds at the end of a word, which is characterized by distinctive phonetic and phono-morphological features. Thus, in Russian, voiced consonants in auslaut are devoiced—for example, rada[rade], “(she) is glad,” but rad[rat], “(he) is glad.”
