Budagov, Ruben Aleksandrovich

 

Born Aug. 23 (Sept. 5), 1910, in Rostov-on-Don. Soviet linguist; specialist in general and Romance linguistics and philology. Corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1970). Graduated from the Rostov Pedagogical Institute in 1933. Professor at Leningrad (1947-52) and Moscow (since 1952) state universities. Awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor and medals.
