DOK4

A gene on chromosome 16q21 that encodes an enzymatically inert adaptor/scaffolding protein, which provides the docking platform for assembling multimolecular signalling complexes. DOK4 is involved in RET-mediated neurite outgrowth and neuronal differentiation; it may upregulate the MAP kinase pathway and may be involved in regulating the T-cell immune response. It is highly expressed in skeletal muscle, the heart, kidneys and liver.
