Dumnye Diaki

Dumnye D’iaki

 

(literally, duma clerks), a lower duma rank in the Russian state of the 16th and 17th century. The dumnye d’iaki drew up and corrected the drafts of the Boyar Duma decisions and tsarist ukases. They managed the business of the Boyar Duma and of the most important prikazes (offices). Prominent statesmen and diplomats frequently rose from their ranks.
