单词 | decorative art |
释义 | decorative artdecorative artDecorative ArtDecorative Artan extensive area of the plastic arts, which, like architecture and design, serves to artistically shape the material surroundings that man creates. Decorative art promotes the inculcation of an aesthetic, ideological-figurative principle into the environment. Decorative art is subdivided into monumental decorative art, which is directly connected with architecture (architectural decor, murals, reliefs, statues, stained glass panels, and mosaics, which ornament facades and interiors, as well as park sculpture); decorative applied art; and ornamental art, or the design of festivals, expositions, displays for museums and shop windows, and the like. Works of decorative art (as opposed to easel painting), which are created as an element or detail of a composition (a square, street, park, or building, as well as an interior, a costume, and so on) play an important role in the volumetric and spatial arrangement of the ensemble. The ideological-figurative content of works of decorative art is most fully revealed when they are perceived in the ensemble for which they were intended. |
