center-of-gravity margin

center-of-gravity margin

center-of-gravity marginThe distance through which the center of gravity can be moved aft from the quoted datum to reach the point of neutral longitudinal (pitch) stability. The center-of-gravity margin is an indication of the degree of longitudinal stability. The greater the margin, the greater the stability (e.g., a combat aircraft may have a very small margin as compared to a large passenger aircraft, as the latter is required to be much less maneuverable).
