Asiatic Depression

Asiatic Depression

Southern Asiatic Depression, a low-pressure region over Asia on long-term mean charts of the summer months, with its center over Afghanistan; one of the seasonal climatological centers of atmospheric action. In July the pressure at the center of the Asiatic Low is approximately 995 millibars (0.0995 meganewtons per square meter). The southern part of the Asiatic Depression can be viewed as an equatorial depression displaced to the tropical latitudes of the heated Asian continent. In its northernmost sections the depression is a result of the predominant presence of polar-front cyclones over the continent.
