Buford complex

Buford complex

A normal variant of shoulder anatomy of the superior labrum/biceps complex, which is characterised by the large anterosuperior foramen due to a reduced or absent anterosuperior labrum, in combination with a thick, cordlike middle glenohumeral ligament. It occurs in ±1.5% of the general population and can be confused with a labral tear, although the absent labrum occurs in the superior-anterior quadrant, an uncommon site of labral tear.
