Constance

in geobotany, one of the quantitative characteristics of the participation of a plant species in the structure of a plant association. It is determined by the number of plots of equal size on which a particular species is found and is expressed as a percentage of the total number of sample plots. Unlike Constance, the consistency of a species (postoianstvo vida) is the frequency with which it is found on the plot of a plant association regardless of its size. The frequency of occurrence of a species (vstrechaemost’ vida) is determined like its Constance but not in the entire association and only within a single phytocoenosis. Sometimes both terms are used as synonyms of constance.
