Bulashevich, Iurii Petrovich

 

Born June 28 (July 11), 1911, in Nizhny Novgorod, now Gorky. Soviet geophysicist. Corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1970).

In 1935, Bulashevich graduated from the University of Kazan and joined the staff of the Urals Branch of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR. In 1958 he became the director of the branch’s Institute of Geophysics (since 1971, the Institute of Geophysics of the Urals Scientific Center of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR). In addition, Bulashevich was appointed a professor at the Sverdlovsk Pedagogical Institute in 1952 and later became a professor at the Sverdlovsk Mining Institute.

Bulashevich’s main works deal with geophysical methods of studying the earth’s crust and with the exploration and analysis of useful mineral deposits.

Bulashevich has been awarded two orders and various medals.
