Korovin, Evgenii Aleksandrovich

 

Born Sept. 18 (30), 1892, in Moscow; died there Nov. 23, 1964. Soviet lawyer, specialist in international law and its history. Professor (1923), doctor of legal science (1938), and corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1946).

After graduating from Moscow University in 1915, Korovin was active in teaching and scholarship. He was a member of Soviet delegations to a number of international conferences. In 1957 he was appointed to the Permanent Court of Arbitration. From 1959 he served as chairman of the Commission On Legal Questions of Interplanetary Space of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR. Korovin was awarded the Order of Lenin and two other orders, as well as medals.
