Bullis fever

Bullis fever

An epidemic illness related to a bite from the Lone Star tick, Amblyomma americanum, which occurred in a military boot camp in 1942; the last reported case occurred in 1947. While Bullis fever was historically attributed to Rickettsia rickettsia, it may have been caused by Ehrlichia canis.
 
Clinical findings
Fever, headache, nausea, rash, neutropenia, thrombocytopenia and persistent lymphadenitis.
