[′dü‚plekst ‚sis·təm] (engineering) A system with two distinct and separate sets of facilities, each of which is capable of assuming the system function while the other assumes a standby status. Also known as redundant system.

duplexed system

Two systems that are functionally identical. They both may perform the same functions, or one may be standby, ready to take over if the other fails.
