Embroidering Machine
Embroidering Machine
a machine for sewing designs on woven fabrics, knits, leather, tulle, and other materials.
Under home conditions, and sometimes also in factories, ordinary sewing machines with suitable adapters are used. More convenient for embroidering is the zigzag machine, in which the horizontal stitch can be easily changed by the operator. In mass production of women’s lingerie, blouses, and other items, a high-production multiheaded semiautomatic embroidering machine is widely used; it is an aggregate of several ordinary sewing machines (shuttle stitch) with a common drive. The tambours of each of these machines are installed in one frame and are moved simultaneously in a given direction and for a certain distance. The machine automatically reproduces identical figures on the material of each tambour and may be used for embroidering in satin stitch and cross-stitch, for shadow stitching, and so forth.
