AP1B1

AP1B1

A gene on chromosome 22q12.2 that encodes a large subunit of the heterotetrameric, trans-Golgi, clathrin-associated adaptor-related protein complex AP-1, which is located at the Golgi vesicle and links clathrin to receptors in coated vesicles. The vesicles are involved in endocytosis and Golgi processing. The AP complexes recruit clathrin to membranes and recognise sorting signals within the cytosolic tails of transmembrane cargo molecules.
Molecular pathology
AP1B1 is a candidate meningioma gene.
