A cute little flower with shiny elongated evergreen leaves with toothy edges that grow in pairs or whorls of 3 or 4 from stem. Pinkish white flowers grow in little umbrella shape, 4-8 at a time. Delicious scent and flavor. Used to flavor candy and soft drinks. Indians used to boil it for tuberculosis and drink tea for urinary infections, rheumatism, colds, kidney stones. Antiseptic, antibacterial, astringent, diuretic. Contains hydroquinones, a natural antibiotic to fight cystitis, urethritis, gonorrhea. The whole plant is edible and used as powerful medicine.
