Bunkin, Fedor Vasil’evich
Born Jan. 17, 1929, in Moscow. Soviet radio physicist. Corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1976). Member of the CPSU since 1971.
In 1952, Bunkin graduated from Moscow State University, where he was appointed a professor in 1971. He joined the staff of the Institute of Physics of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR in 1955.
Bunkin developed a method of solving problems of electromagnetic radiation. He also developed a theory of thermal radiation in anisotropic media and a theory of thermal fluctuations in nonequilibrium systems. Bunkin directed research in the interaction of high-intensity electromagnetic radiation with gaseous, liquid, and solid media.
