Darienko, Domnikiia Timofeevna

 

Born Jan. 15, 1919, in the village of Dolinskoe, in present-day Anan’ev Raion, Odessa Oblast. Soviet Moldavian actress. People’s Artist of the Moldavian SSR (1957).

Darienko graduated from the Odessa School of Dramatic Arts in 1937. That same year she joined the Moldavian Theater in Tiraspol’ (now the A. S. Pushkin Theater of Music and Drama in Kishinev). Her best roles include Kruchinina (Guilty Without Guilt by A. N. Ostrovskii), Mavra (It Was Happiness the Girl Was After, based on Kobylianskaia). Tat’iana (Enemies by Gorky), Liubov’ Iarovaia (Liubov larovaia by Trenev), Corinne (Ovid by Alecsandri). Elmira (Tartuffe by Molière), Afteniia (Mother-in-law and Three Daughters-in-law by Kriange), Vasilutsa (Casa Mare by Drutse), and Tankabike (The Night of the Lunar Eclipse by Karim). Darienko was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor and a medal.
