Beck, Aaron T. (Temkin)

(1921– ) psychiatrist; born in Providence, R.I. Educated at Brown and Yale Universities, he became a fellow of the Austen Riggs Center in Stockbridge, Mass., in 1950, the same year that he joined the faculty of the University of Pennsylvania. He specialized in research on the affective disorders, publishing more than 80 articles and 7 books, including Diagnosis and Management of Depression (1978) and Predictions of Suicide (1974).
