Edwards Plateau a plateau in the southern United States, in the state of Texas, between the valleys of the Columbia River and the Rio Grande. The plateau, which has an elevation of 700–800 m, constitutes part of the Great Plains. It is deeply dissected by canyon-like river valleys. Dry prairie grasses, succulents, and mesquite are the principal forms of vegetation. Livestock graze on the Edwards Plateau. |
