an establishment under the jurisdiction of health agencies that deals with medical problems arising in the course of judicial inquiries. The bureaus of forensic medical examination were created in 1951 from offices of forensic medical examination, morgues, and laboratories of forensic medicine in city, oblast, and krai health departments and ministries of health of Union and autonomous republics. The bureaus of forensic medical examination consist of departments for the medical examination of living persons (dispensary), forensic medical autopsy, with a forensic histological section (morgue), and forensic-medical investigation of material evidence (forensic medical laboratory).
