Burgas Petrochemical Combine
Burgas Petrochemical Combine
one of the largest industrial establishments in Bulgaria; it is under construction on the Black Sea coast near Burgas. The petroleum refinery of the combine was put in operation in the second half of 1963. The combine is being built with the help of the USSR. The special “Friendship” port was built south of Burgas to receive oil from the USSR. The oil is pumped from the port through a 27-km pipeline directly to the refinery. The combine produces gasoline, kerosene, and mazut. The integrated oil refining forms the basis for production of synthetic fibers and rubber, plastics, and other chemical products; plants for these purposes are under construction near the combine.
