Asino

a city (until 1952, an urban-type settlement); the center of Asino Raion, Tomsk Oblast, RSFSR, on the left bank of the Chulym River (tributary of the Ob’). The last railroad station on the line from the Trans-Siberian Railway through Tomsk. Population, 30,000 (1968). In 1970 a rail line from Asino to Belyi Iar was under construction. Much lumber is hauled from the Chulym River to the railroad. Industry consists of a woodworking combine and the production of prefabricated housing units.
