Florian Geyer
Geyer, Florian
Born circa 1490; died June 9, 1525. Franconian imperial knight. One of the leading figures in the Peasant War of 1524-26 in Germany.
In the beginning of April 1525, Geyer led one of the peasant detachments in Franconia. As a member of the unified council of Franconian insurgents, he often led delegations of peasants to neighboring cities and to feudal lords, convincing them to join the uprising. He was killed during the crushing of the revolt.
