CO2 response test CO2 response test A clinical test which measures the hypercapnic drive response—the ratio of the change in airway-occlusion pressure 0.1 second after the start of inspiratory flow [deltaP(0.1)] to the change in P(aCO2) [deltaP(aCO2)]—and the hypercapnic ventilatory response—the ratio of the change in minute volume to deltaP(aCO2). A reduced CO2 response, as measured by hypercapnic drive response and hypercapnic ventilatory response, are associated with prolonged weaning from mechanical ventilation. |
