Digul

a river on the south of the island of New Guinea, in West Irian (Indonesia). Length, 600 km. It originates in the Djajawidjaja Mountains and flows mainly through a vast, mostly marshy lowland in a very meandering channel; it empties into the Arafura Sea. It is at high water all year long and overflows after the rains in the mountains. It is navigable to the upper reaches.
