Fellowship of Revolutionary Youth of Vietnam

the first Marxist organization formed by the Vietnamese Communists under Ho Chi Minh’s leadership. It was founded in June 1925 in Canton, China. The Communist members of the organization directed its activity.

The fellowship published the newspaper Thanh nien (Youth) from June 1925 to April 1927. Between 1925 and 1927 more than 300 party workers received political training in courses organized by the fellowship’s Central Committee. In 1926 the fellowship began organizing on the local level; by 1929, Vietnam’s local organizations numbered more than 1,000 members. The zonal committees of Tonkin, Annam, and Cochin China directed the provincial committees. The fellowship was the base of the first Communist organizations formed in 1929, which joined together in the Communist Party of Vietnam in February 1930; in October of that year the party was renamed the Communist Party of Indochina.
