Cul·len sign

(kŭl'ĕn), periumbilical darkening of the skin from blood, a sign of intraperitoneal hemorrhage, especially in ruptured ectopic pregnancy.
Periumbilical blue-black discoloration, which follows intraperitoneal haemorrhage by 24–48 hours and may be caused by ectopic pregnancy (described by T.S. Cullen in 1916), acute pancreatitis, ruptured triple A, and other causes of retroperitoneal or intraabdominal haemorrhage
