Aggtelek
(also Baradla-Domica), one of the largest karst caves of Europe, located in the Slovakian kras (or karst). The cave can be entered from both the Czechoslovakian side (Domica) and the Hungarian side (Baradla). The total length of the cave system is 22 km (with 15 km in Hungary). There are numerous underground caverns with stalactites and stalagmites, lakes, and underground rivers (Styx and Acheron). The cave is equipped for tourist visits. In 1952 the karst cave Peace was opened near Aggtelek on Hungarian territory.
