Bushaq
Bushaq
or Bushaq Ateme (literary pseudonym of Fahraddin Ahmad-i Hallaj). Birth date unknown, died 1427. Iranian poet and satirist. Cotton carder by profession.
In his parodies of the verses of well-known Iranian poets, Bushaq Ateme used gastronomic terminology; this explains one part of his pseudonym: ateme is the plural of Arabic taam, “food.” His poem The Treasure House of Appetite parodies Saadi’s Gulistan. Bushaq left prose treatises and a dictionary of culinary terms.
