Cultivated Phytocoenosis
Cultivated Phytocoenosis
a community of cultivated plants. A distinction is made between short-term (fields, gardens, and flowerbeds—1–3 years), long-term (planted meadows—8–10 years), and permanent communities (fruit orchards, city parks, shelterbelts, and woods which exist for dozens and hundreds of years). The permanent cultivated phytocoenoses are closer to natural phytocoenoses in a number of characteristics. The plant communities of field crops are known as agrophytocoenoses; this concept is sometimes equated with cultivated phytocoenoses.
