Estes, Richard

(1936– ) painter; born in Evanston, Ill. He studied at the Art Institute of Chicago (1952–56), and became a member of the super realists, who focused on industrial landscapes and a photographic approach to art. His eerie street scenes, such as Victory Theatre (1968) and Canadian Club (1974), are typical of his work.
