Business Expansion Scheme

Also called the BES. A structure in the United Kingdom that assisted new and small businesses in raising capital. Individuals and companies received tax incentives to invest in new companies and other high-risk ventures. It resulted in a large increase in investment in new companies. The BES was introduced in 1983 and was replaced by the Enterprise Investment Scheme in 1994.
