Dimitrov, Mikhail Dafinkichev

 

Born Oct. 12, 1881, in the village of Chuprene, Vidin District; died Oct. 6, 1966, in Sofia. Bulgarian historian and philosopher; academician of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (1946); People’s Scholar (1963). Member of the Bulgarian Communist Party from 1944 to his death.

Dimitrov was a professor at the University of Sofia from 1946 to 1950 and vice president of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences from 1947 to 1957. Dimitrov was a specialist in the history of the Bulgarian renaissance and investigated the lives and works of Kh. Botev and L. Karavelov. He received the Dimitrov Prize in 1950 and was awarded the Order of Georgii Dimitrov in 1951.
