Bustakh

 

(Buusaakh), a lake in the Yakut ASSR, located in the northern part of the Iano-Indigirka Lowland. Area, 249 sq km.

In the northeast and southeast the shores are broken and irregular; from the west Bustakh is joined by Lake Tonkai-Kiuel’ (actually a cove of Lake Bustakh), the source of the Surutakh River. The latter flows into the Ebeliakhskaia Bay of the Laptev Sea. Lake Bustakh is fed by atmospheric precipitation as well as by surface runoff. It freezes over at the end of September and opens up in June. The main tributary flowing into the Bustakh is the Arkhii-Iurege River. Lake Bustakh is rich in fish.
