The two major liver isoforms of ALDH, cytosolic and mitochondrial, can be distinguished by their electrophoretic mobilities. Most Caucasians have both; 50% of Asians have only the cytosolic isozym, making them more susceptible to acute alcohol intoxication.ALDH2
