Dinov, Todor Georgiev
Born July 24, 1919, in Alexandroupolis, Greece. Bulgarian motion picture director and artist; Honored Artist of the People’s Republic of Bulgaria (1963).
Dinov became a member of the Bulgarian Communist Party in 1945. In 1943 he graduated from the theatrical scenery department of the Academy of Arts in Sofia. In later years he went to the USSR to gain experience in the field of animated movies. He was the artistic and overall director of the animated films The Attentive Angel (1956), In Cannibal Country (1958), Prometheus (1959), The Lightning Rod (1962), The Daisy (1965), and Exile From Paradise (1967). In 1962 he directed the feature film Iconostasis (together with Kh. Khristov, based on D. Talev’s novel The Iron Candlestick). Many of Dinov’s films have been awarded international and national prizes. He received the Dimitrov Prize in 1966.
